Tour description

Introduction

Join us on a relaxing 3-day discovery micro tour from Sibenik to Split and Trogir, crafted for seniors and mature travelers who love history, sightseeing, and scenic drives without hurry. Following the Slow Tourism philosophy with no rush and no tight schedules, this year-round journey takes you through the most famous historical gems of central Dalmatia, from the formidable Klis fortress and the ancient Roman ruins of Salona to the magnificent Diocletian's Palace in Split, the medieval island-town of Trogir, and the meaningful Our Lady monument in Loreto.

Experience cultural aspects of Dalmatian heritage, admire scenic roads along the coast and into the hinterland, and let the region's rich history unfold before you. This tour blends well-known destinations with a meaningful hidden gem – the Our Lady monument in Loreto – all at a gentle, easy pace, returning to Sibenik.

Day after day description

Day 1. We depart from Sibenik and travel to Klis to explore its imposing fortress, dramatically perched on a rocky ridge and celebrated for its centuries-long resistance against Ottoman invasions, as well as its role as a filming location for the series 'Game of Thrones'. We then continue to Salona (Solin) to visit the extensive archaeological site, once the thriving capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the birthplace of Emperor Diocletian. After that, we will come to Split for accommodation.

Day 2. After staying in Split, we visit the Split Archaeological Museum, the oldest museum in Croatia, founded in 1820. We then spend the day exploring the city's historical center, a vibrant living museum wrapped around the 4th-century Diocletian's Palace (UNESCO World Heritage Site). We stroll through the Golden Gate, admire the Cathedral of St. Domnius (originally Diocletian's mausoleum), and soak in the atmosphere of this ancient imperial residence. We stay another night in Split.

Day 3. After 2 nights in Split, we travel to the charming island-town of Trogir (UNESCO World Heritage Site), where we explore its beautifully preserved medieval core, the 13th-century Cathedral of St. Lawrence with its masterful portal, and the 15th-century Kamerlengo Fortress. We then continue to Loreto to see the Statue of Our Lady of Loreto, a 30-meter-tall votive monument erected in 1960 by the grateful local community after their vineyards were miraculously spared from disease. A richly decorated gray stone column supports the black statue of the Virgin Mary, placed on one side and facing the sea and the nearby town of Primosten. The location also offers a stunning panoramic viewpoint over the surrounding coastline and islands. Finally, we return to Sibenik, where our memorable journey concludes.

Conclusion

This 3-day micro discovery tour delivers a wonderfully relaxed immersion into the historical, cultural, and architectural splendors of central Dalmatia. We warmly invite you to travel with us – at a gentle pace, without hurry – to experience the timeless allure of Split, Trogir, and their enchanting surroundings.
