Introduction

Join us on a relaxed five-day journey through central Dalmatia, where we will explore well-known destinations and off-the-beaten-path hidden gems at a gentle, unhurried pace. This tour is designed for mature travelers, seniors, and couples who appreciate cultural depth, history, and the beauty of scenic drives. Following the Slow Tourism philosophy, we take our time to savor local cuisine, local food and drinks, and the rich heritage of each place we visit.

From Zadar to Split and back, we will explore in-depth cultural treasures, including four UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ancient fortresses, sparkling waterfalls, and picturesque coastal towns. Whether you are a golden-ager traveling solo or a retiree looking for an easy yet enriching escape, this journey offers authentic encounters with history, tradition, and Dalmatian hospitality.


Day after day description

Day 1. We will come to Sibenik, where we explore Barone Fortress (17th century), St. Michael Fortress (medieval origins), St. James Cathedral (15th–16th century, UNESCO World Heritage Site), and St. Nicholas Fortress (16th century, UNESCO World Heritage Site). After that, we will have accommodation in Sibenik for 2 nights.

Day 2. After a first overnight in Sibenik, we travel to Krka National Park to see the famous Krka Waterfalls, then continue to Plastovo for a visit to Sladic Winery, tasting local wines. After that, we will return to Sibenik for another night.

Day 3. After 2 nights in Sibenik, we travel to Split to visit the Archaeological Museum, stroll through Split’s historical center (UNESCO World Heritage Site), explore Diocletian's Palace (4th century), the Golden Gate landmark, and St. Domnius Cathedral (7th century). We will stay in Split for 2 nights.

Day 4. After an overnight in Split, we travel to Klis to see the Olive and Olive Oil Museum and Klis Fortress (medieval, 13th century), then visit the Salona archaeological site (ancient Roman capital of Dalmatia). After that, we return to Split for another night.

Day 5. After 2 nights in Split, we travel to Trogir to explore its historical center (UNESCO World Heritage Site), St. Lawrence Cathedral (13th–16th century), and Kamerlengo Fortress (15th century), then visit Our Lady viewpoint in Loreto. After that, we return to Zadar, where the tour concludes.

Šibenik (Sibenik), Croatia

Sibenik, known in Italy as Sebenico, is a historic city in Croatia, located in central Dalmatia, where the river Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea. Sibenik has four fortresses and historic center with the Cathedral of St James. The Cathedral and St. Nicholas fortress are included in UNESCO's World Heritage Site list. Roughly 18 kilometres north of the city is the Krka National Park, similar to the Plitvice Lakes National Park, known for its many waterfalls, flora, fauna, and historical and archaeological remains. The Kornati archipelago, west of Sibenik, consists of 150 islands in a sea area of about 320 km2, making it the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea.



Krka, Croatia

Known for landmark, nature, park, waterfall

One of the eight Croatian national parks, named after the river Krka that it encloses. It is located in central Dalmatia, just a few kilometers of Å ibenik. It was formed to protect the Krka River and is intended primarily for scientific, cultural, and educational activities. It is a spacious, largely unchanged region of exceptional natural value, and is characterized by exceptionally rich and varied flora and fauna, which is generally endangered or near extinction in the rest of Europe. Skradinski buk is one of the most attractive parts of the park, considered to be one of the most beautiful calcium carbonate waterfalls in Europe.

Klis Fortress, known well in Roman time, played a crucial role during the Ottoman wars in Europe. Fortress rises dramatically above the village of Klis, just 13 kilometers from the city Split, Croatia. Its strategic hilltop location, sandwiched between the Kozjak and Mosor mountains, offers sweeping views of Split, the Adriatic Sea, and the rural hinterland.



Salona, Croatia

Known for ancient settlement, ancient theatre, archaeological site, catholic church

Salona was an ancient city and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, founded probably after the Roman civil wars under Julius Caesar. The name Salona preserves the language of the early inhabitants of this area whom the Romans called the Dalmatae, considered to be part of a larger group called the Illyrians. Salona is situated in today's town of Solin, right next to Split, is the largest archaeological park in Croatia.



Trogir, Croatia

Trogir is a historic harbour town on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, in Dalmatia region, one of the four historical regions of Croatia. Since 1997, the historic center of Trogir has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites for its Venetian architecture.



Loreto, Croatia

Known for monument, viewpoint

The monumental Statue of Our Lady of Loreto stands proudly on top of Gaj hill, overlooking the beautiful coastal town of Primosten in central Dalmatia. This impressive hill is about 173 meters high and is located roughly 20 miles south of the city of Sibenik and 30 kilometers north of Trogir. The statue is situated in a region famous for its scenic landscapes, vineyards, pristine beaches, and a charming medieval old town located on a small island.
