Zavratnica description

Zavratnica formation have a narrow entrance and is 50–150 m wide, with up to 100 m sides which are very steep. Zavratnica is amazing well hidden fjord, but its geological origin is very different from the formation of fjords. A mountain stream became flooded as the surface of the sea rose (transgression after the last ice age), and so a cove was formed quite similar in appearance to a fjord.

In Zavratnica inlet you can see a sunken military ferry wreck from WW2 surrounded by stunning scenery.

Jablanac village is located 1 km south, overlooking the island of Rab. The village used to have a ferry port that connected it to Rab. The population of Jablanac was 83 people in 2011.
