Tivat description

According to legend, Tivat is derived from Illyrian queen Teuta. Many tombs and tombstones from the Roman period were discovered in Tivat area.

Currently, Tivat, the youngest town in the Bay of Kotor. According to the archives of Kotor (Cattaro), the area of Tivat was used for the settlement in the 14th century. During the Middle Ages the fertile lands of the area belonged mostly to the aristocrats of Cattaro.

In 1889 the Naval arsenal was built by Austrians, and was later used as a naval military base of the Italian Navy, the Yugoslav People's Army and the Army of Montenegro. The former naval base is now "Porto Montenegro", a super yacht marina.

We will visit Kravica waterfalls, a natural beauty, Pocitelj, another fortified town, built in the 13th century; we will walk in the multicultural Sarajevo, the lively capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Montenegro, we will visit the famous Ostrog monastery built along the vertical cliff, and another one with unusual frescos located in a cave; we will stroll the gorgeous streets of Bar's ancient town, and before we finish our tour in Tivat, we will meet the vibrant coastal town of Budva, full of many narrow streets surrounded by stone walls.
