Day 1. We will depart from Belgrade and travel to Smederevo, where we will come to explore Smederevo Fortress, a vast medieval fortified city built in the 15th century, once the capital of the Serbian Despotate. We will then continue to see Viminacium, a significant Roman archaeological park with well-preserved remains of an ancient city and a mammoth cemetery. After that, we will come to Veliko Gradiste for accommodation.
Day 2. After staying in Veliko Gradiste, we will travel to Golubac and will come to explore Golubac Fortress, a stunning medieval castle with ten towers, strategically positioned on the banks of the Danube River. We will then continue to see Tumane Monastery (Orthodox), a serene spiritual site nestled in the hills, and then to see Ram Fortress, another medieval stronghold on the Danube with a distinctive star-shaped layout. After that, we will return to Veliko Gradiste for accommodation.
Day 3. After 2 nights in Veliko Gradiste, we will travel to Topola to explore the Holy Martyr George Church (Orthodox), a 20th-century mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic dynasty, located on the hill of Oplenac. After that, we will come to Sremska Mitrovica for accommodation.
Day 11. After staying in Sremska Mitrovica, we will travel to Krusedol Monastery (Orthodox), a 16th-century monastic complex with beautiful Baroque elements and a peaceful atmosphere. We will then continue to see the Petrovaradin Fortress, a massive 18th-century Habsburg fortress on the Danube, known for its iconic clock tower, and then to explore the Novi Sad historical center, with its elegant Austro-Hungarian architecture and lively squares. Day 12. After staying in Novi Sad, we will travel to Sremski Karlovci, a charming historical town on the Danube, famous for its Baroque architecture, the Karlovci Grammar School, and its rich winemaking tradition. We will then continue to see the Djerdap Archaeological Museum in Kladovo, showcasing finds from the Djerdap region. We will then travel to Negotin and will come to explore Matalj Winery, where we will enjoy a tasting of their excellent wines, particularly the red Vranac variety. After that, we will come to Negotin for accommodation.
Day 5. After staying in Negotin, we will travel to Bukovo and will come to explore Bukovo Monastery (Orthodox), a 13th-century monastic complex with a peaceful atmosphere and historical significance. We will then return to Negotin and will come to explore Frunza Aglaja Winery, another local winery, where we will continue our wine tasting experience of Serbian varietals. Day 6. After 2 nights in Negotin, we will travel to Gamzigrad-Felix Romuliana and will come to explore the archaeological site (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a magnificent Roman imperial palace complex built by Emperor Galerius in the late 3rd-early 4th century AD, with impressive ruins of temples, fortifications, and mosaics. We will then continue to see Gabrovac Monastery (Orthodox), a peaceful spiritual site in the countryside. After that, we will come to Nis for accommodation.
Day 7. After staying in Nis, we will explore the Skull Tower Museum, a unique and somber monument built from the skulls of Serbian rebels, offering a poignant reminder of the country's struggle for independence. We will then travel to see Mediana, an important Roman archaeological site that was once a luxurious imperial residence of Emperor Constantine the Great, dating to the 4th century.
